Malaysia Internship by TAPiO

IT & Software Development Internship

Build. Test. Improve. Work on real business software, learn how applications are developed and evaluated, and use modern AI-assisted tools to move from an idea to a working solution.

About the internship

Learn software by working with software

This internship is designed for students who want practical exposure to how modern business applications are built, tested, improved and used in the real world.

You may contribute to internal and client-related software projects, test new features and releases, work with Python and APIs, examine application workflows, support debugging and help turn business requirements into practical improvements.

The aim is broader than learning how to write code. You will develop an understanding of what should be built, why it matters to the user, how to test whether it works and how modern AI tools can accelerate the development process without replacing critical judgement.

A good fit if…

You like understanding how things work.

You do not need to arrive as an advanced developer. Basic programming knowledge is useful, but curiosity, structured thinking, attention to detail and the willingness to investigate a problem are just as important.

This is particularly suitable for students who want exposure to both the technical and business sides of software development.

Your practical experience

Four areas you will work across

01 / Test

Software Testing & QA

Test applications systematically, create realistic user scenarios, document bugs clearly and verify whether corrected features actually solve the problem.

02 / Build

Development & Python

Support software development and modification using Python and other relevant technologies while learning how application components fit together.

03 / Improve

Product & User Experience

Look at software from the user’s perspective, identify awkward workflows and suggest practical changes to functionality, usability and business processes.

04 / Accelerate

AI-Assisted Development

Use modern coding assistants and AI development environments to research, prototype, analyse code, troubleshoot and explore alternative solutions faster.

What you may work on

Real tasks, not only classroom exercises

Test a New Software Release

Create test cases, reproduce user journeys, identify defects or inconsistencies, document what happened and retest after changes are made.

Improve an Existing Business Application

Review an existing workflow, identify friction for users and propose features or changes that make the application more useful and efficient.

Build a Small Python or API Solution

Use code to automate a task, process data or connect applications, then test whether the solution behaves correctly under realistic conditions.

Prototype with AI Coding Tools

Use tools such as Codex and other AI-assisted development environments to move quickly from an idea to a prototype, while checking and improving the generated work.

Python · Software testing · Test cases · Debugging · APIs · Data handling · Web applications · AI coding tools · UX evaluation · Business workflows

What you will learn

Develop more than programming skills

1

Test systematically

Learn the difference between simply trying software and testing it properly. Develop repeatable scenarios, identify unexpected behaviour and communicate defects so they can be reproduced and fixed.

2

Understand software structure

Gain practical exposure to code, APIs, databases, interfaces, application logic and the way different components work together inside a business solution.

3

Use AI as a development tool

Learn how AI can accelerate coding, debugging, research and prototyping, and why you still need to verify generated code, logic and output before relying on it.

4

Think about the user

Evaluate whether software is intuitive, efficient and useful for the person who actually needs to work with it. Technology only creates value when the solution fits the real requirement.

5

Translate business needs

Learn how a business problem becomes a software requirement, then a development task, a prototype and eventually a feature that can be tested with users.

6

Develop product judgement

Build the habit of asking three important questions: What should we build? Why should we build it? How will we know whether it actually works?

Who we are looking for

Technical curiosity matters.

This internship is particularly relevant to students in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science and related disciplines.

  • You have basic knowledge of Python or another programming language.
  • You are interested in software development and business applications.
  • You enjoy testing, analysing and understanding how systems work.
  • You are curious about AI-assisted programming and modern development tools.
  • You can think critically instead of simply following instructions.
  • You pay attention to detail and can document your work clearly.
  • You are willing to experiment, research and solve problems independently.

What matters most

Advanced programming experience is not essential.

Strong technical fundamentals are valuable, but so are curiosity, logic, patience and the ability to understand the purpose of a software solution.

We are looking for motivated students who want to become better builders, testers and problem-solvers.

Ready to get practical?

Work on software that has a real purpose.

Use your internship to strengthen your technical skills, learn modern AI-assisted development methods and understand how software decisions connect with users, workflows and business results.
