On April 22nd, TAPiO hosted a virtual Wednesday Club in which we were privileged to have Mr. Rian Maelzer from China Global TV Network (CGTN), join us as a guest speaker. In the time of COVID-19, we at TAPiO, we are adapting to the “new normal” while embracing technology for virtual meetings and webinars.
Mr. Rian is an international Television Correspondent, Cameraman, Producer, and Editor with 30 years of professional experience as a journalist. Mr. Rian is a video Television Correspondent or Video Journalist for China Global TV Network (CGTN) for Malaysia and the Asian region. He has a master’s degree in Journalism from Carleton University, Ottawa, and a masters in international relations from the London School of Economics. Rian has reported from across Asia for the past 22 years. For CCTV News, he has covered the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, devastating flooding in Northern Malaysia, the 2014 Thailand elections, the landmark 2015 elections in Myanmar, the Rohingya refugee crisis, and the 2015 ASEAN and East Asia Summits.
It was a very informative and engaging session that was very educational to the team of interns. Mr. Rian explained how he creates his segments and gave us valuable insight into the process of getting news content from the research, production, and editing stage to be featured on the international CGTN channel.
